7 Study Tips to Improve Concentration and Better Focus

With technology at the fingertips, it is easier to get distracted these days. It is much harder to focus with all these distractions around. Have you ever gone on to Google and searched for something, but one search led to another and you ended up looking for something entirely different from the first? The same things happen while you study, isn’t it? It is so hard to focus when you have so much going on in your head. But don’t worry! Here are some easy and effective study hacks to improve your concentration to make the best use of your study hours.
1.Beauty Sleep
If you say you barely have time to sleep, we have to change that asap! If you want to concentrate better and increase your capacity to learn new things, sleep has to be one of your priorities. Lack of sleep affects your mood and focus, impairs your judgment and motivation. So, make sure you catch 7-8 hours of sleep every night and notice the difference in your concentration levels.

2. Say No To Caffeine

While shots after shots of caffeine sound really inviting to keep yourself awake and alert in the early hours, it’s not worth it in the long run. For long study hours, nothing beats H2O. Water helps transmit nutrients to the brain that will stimulate it to improve focus. And remember not to gulp it down, but take it in sips. This is healthy not only for your body but also for your brain!

3. Walk It Out

Physical exercise does wonder for the brain and while the list of benefits is endless, a quick walk or run 15-20 minutes before you hit your books can be of great help to improve focus and concentration. Physical activity promotes proper blood flow to the brain which helps you in not only focusing better but also to retain better. So put on your running shoes!

4.Face The Music

It is no secret that music helps people calm down and focus better. Generations of students have been using it as a tool to get their minds on the right track while studying. While you may create your own playlist of your preferred genre, research shows that classical music works better to help you focus while you study. Ready for some Mozart?

5. Shake It Off

No, I’m not citing Taylor Swift’s lyrics (rolls eyes). But when it seems like nothing is working out and you can’t seem to find your centre, just breathe. Assess yourself, get up and do a few stretches. Find your sweet spot (think ‘Sheldon’), talk nonsense with a kid (believe me, it helps), meditate, anything to help your brain relax before it’s ready to battle books again.

6. Find a peaceful study environment

Before settling down to study it is really important to find yourself a suitable study environment in order to give your full concentration to the preparation. It is advisable to find a vacant room with soothing lights and soundproof doors, having soothing lights will allow you to focus on your studies without feeling your eyes pinch. So, go ahead and find a suitable room for yourself and get set go to complete your mission.

7. Get yourself a study partner

After burying your heads in the books for long hours it becomes quite monotonous for you to go with the study flow. It is necessary for you to get a break, obviously not from your studies and preparation but from the strenuous moment you go through while preparing. Find yourself a study partner with whom you can share your study techniques and clarify your doubts. Also getting a focused partner will boost you and motivate your study level to match up to them.
Aim to score higher and perform better by using these powerful tips to improve concentration and enhance your memory power as you prepare for your exams.
